Kath Dooley is an Australian born screenwriter and director who resides in Adelaide, South Australia. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Screen Studies from Flinders University in 2000, Kath Dooley has written and directed a number of award winning short and long form projects. These have included short films, music videos, corporate videos and moving image works. Kath also has a range of feature film projects in development.
As well as filmmaking, Kath is also an active film educator, having lectured on the filmmaking process to teenagers and adults. In 2007 she co-founded the company UNLOCKED FILMS, specializing in educational DVDs.
Having lived in France for two years and returning to take up a postgraduate scholarship at Flinders University, she is currently completing a creative PhD studying the directorial approach of French directors such as Claire Denis and Catherine Breillat. Kath would liken her directing style to that of European cinema, with her understated comedic storylines aiming for broad audience appeal.
Liz Dooley is an Adelaide-based producer who began making
films with her sister Kath to escape teenage boredom.
After completing an arts degree in Drama at Flinders
University in 2001, Liz got involved in filmmaking first as a production
designer, and later teamed up with Kath to direct and produce several short
films, music videos, corporate videos and moving image works.
In 2006, taking a hiatus from filmmaking, Liz completed some
study in arts management and had a stint in Sydney in arts administration and
marketing. But the creative bug resurfaced following an extended visit to Paris
in 2009 to see Kath, then living there. The following year Liz returned to
Adelaide to start a law degree and make films once again.
